    Excellent
This zoom has been a bug in my pocket for some time, and I finally bit and got this fantastic lens.
    I love zooms, so versatile.
What’s the first thing people do with a zoom of this caliber? Take a moon shot, of course. I also took photos of various objects, including birds just to be sure this is a sharp lens and it is.
One big reason for this lens is that it has internal zoom. I don’t like those heavy zoom lens that grow in length when zoom. All that wear and tear of those moving parts moving a tube with heavy glass in it. This guy skips all that. Zoom is quite and very smooth.
This lens is heavy, as one would expect. Considering what it does it is very acceptable.
It has a lot of features I need to look into further. What I do like is that big ring on the lens is the zooming ring. It is in an excellent place, right where you would hold the lens when shooting. The smaller ring is for manual focusing.
Now, is it sharp? Yes, very sharp. The pictures I took of detailed objects show extremely good sharpness for a zoom lens. I took photos ranging from the moon, birds eating my persimmons, tree trunk and leaves. All very good and even handheld, the lens performed greatly. The images stabilization built in the lens did a great job when handhold camera and lens when shooting.
While this lens is a 200-600mm lens for a full frame Sony camera, it becomes a 300-900mm lens when hooked up to a Sony a6000 series of crop sensor cameras. That can come in handy for those needing to reach way out there for a photo.
I am exceedingly happy with this lens. It fits in nicely with my 70-200 f4.0 and 18-105 f4.0 zoom lens. All with internal zooming.
I would say the price may be high for some, but it is worth it as it works perfectly with Sony cameras. Zooming is fantastic and focusing is fast and spot on.

I’ve had ‘Big Bertha’ for about 6 months now, and she never disappoints. The shots come out clean and clear. I do need to find a better tri/monopod that can support her weight and a new backpack as well so she can stay in with her other lens siblings and not sleeping outside lol. I don’t regret the money I spent on her one but! The moon photo i attached was from our last supermoon. I messed with the ISO settings to get it really black around it.

This is a lens if you don’t want to need 1,4x or 2x converters that will take one or two stops of light away from other shorter lenses. great for wild life, compressed landscapes. Not a lens for a beginner. It takes some skill to use. its heavy but if you are OK with that it can be great.

Just love this lens. I shouldn’t have waited so long to purchase. Some limitations in low light situations but modern noise cancelling/reduction in software almost makes it a non factor. I don’t think I’ll ever need the 600 F4. I own several Sony lenses and had been using the respectable Sigma 100-400 but this has been on my camera 95% of the time since purchase…

Amazing zoom lens. Images are very sharp and the build quality is great. It is on the heavy side though. Grabs focus fast on my A7III

The Sony G series 200 – 600 mm f5.6 – f6.3 is a very good choice for the price. Sharp all the way through. I prefer to shoot with this lens on a monopod or tripod due to the weight, but with it’s optical stabilization you could handhold. Because of its size, I bought a Lowpro LP36776 Lens Trekker 600 AW lll backpack. I carry my monopod, extra batteries a second camera and lens on outside attached case (sold separately). The lens and camera are stored in the backpack and ready to use. The lens goes from 200mm to 600mm in a quarter turn of the barrel. Very easy to zoom in or out for sports applications.
    I highly recommend this lens!

  7. KeepItSimple

Amazing lens. Definitely a keeper. Pros: Sharp, great zoom range, G-lens quality. Cons: HEAVY and bulky. Given the zoom range of 600mm, no surprises on its weight.
I took a picture of the moon. The lens was mounted to an a7RIVA.
Would I recommend to a friend? Absolutely!!

I have been looking at buying a super telephoto lense for a while. I have considered buying a Tamron lense with similar focal length but getting a Sony lense within reasonable price range have me go for this one. My only issue with Bestbuy online purchaes is that they shipped this expensive lense in its original packaging only and not in a bigger box. On top of that the box was kot even sealed with tape, when I received it, it was missing lense strap and also lense cover. Return the lense and received replacent in couple of days same way but this time received everything in it. Maybe in future when I am purchasing something expensive, I will buy it in person inside the store only. 4 stars and not 5 stars for shipping and packaging reasons.
